MEG 101: Spelling List #1

Meg's spelling list just came in today. We have until Sunday to review it for the spelling test on Monday.
Do you think she can spell these words already? My daughter's in Prep now and is 5 years old. She has a retentive memory and can spell words with only short vowels in it like sat, kid, beg, log, and sun. I haven't tried different words for her to spell. These are the words included in the list.
1. big
2. small
3. head
4. trunk
5. limbs
6. excuse
7. please
8. borrow
9. vowel
10. alphabet

I know she can spell the word big but with the rest, I don't know where to start in teaching her. I remember my Grade1 pupil before had a hard time with these words. And my daughter's still in Prep! Hope I can find a way for her to remember it. I'll update you next week on this. =)

Meg's Last Pre-school Year

I can't believe that my little girl is now in Prep. That would mean: more reading and writing, more math lessons, and more social interaction to a bunch of kids of her age.

There's a big adjustment on her schedule. Wake up time now is 6 A.M., 5 A.M. for me to cook breakfast, and prepare everything for her.

I've done a lot of art for her storage box and art workbook. (And I hate art! lol)
school labels
Meg has three sets of uniform for this school year. Bright colors of blue, yellow, and red.

I don't know if I'm being a perfectionist again and pressuring her on her writing. Good thing I worked from home for the last three days so I did track her adjustments and talked to her teacher on her development. There's this FOCUS issue again that I'm a bit worried now. The teacher told me she was the first to finish writing yesterday but for today, she refused to write and told her teacher that she didn't know how. (She does this too OFTEN, her excuse if she didn't want to do something) I talked to her about it and she promised she'll do well consistently. I guess there are really days that you are not in the mood or not properly motivated so I need to put extra EFFORT on her writing. Good thing reading is just a piece of cake for her now.
more practice
Her theme for this school year is Barbie. It amazes me how this kikay girl influences many kids all over the world. And now our room is filled with all these pink stuff!

I realized I just need to guide her more and assist her this school year. No need to rush, take things one step at a time. After all, our pre-schooler should enjoy going to SCHOOL. This is still part of their childhood and the foundation of their learning development.

CRAVE: Sumo Sam | Steaks, Seafood and Sushi

I was able to experience the Japanese cuisine Sumo Sam has to offer - from steaks, seafood, and sushi at their branch at Gateway Mall, Cubao Quezon City.

I love Japanese food for a start, and I love how it delights my taste buds every time I savor their food. The staff at Sumo Sam greeted us warmly with a friendly smile and assisted us to our table.
soy sauce and chili powder

We ordered Tofu Steak, California Roll, Beef Tepan, Gohan (rice), and Red Iced Tea.
PHP 289.00
With carrots, green peas, mushrooms, and beef slices, this Tofu Steak is appetizing. Its flavor is just right and the softness of the tofu combined with the vegetables and beef makes it more scrumptious.
PHP 378.00
I'm not a big fan of beef but this is a must try at Sumo Sam. It's tender, flavorful (I love the garlic!), and juicy.
bottomless red iced tea - PHP 98.00
PHP 218.00
And I'm saving the BEST for last. This is one California Maki that you don't want to miss at Sumo Sam. The best I've ever tasted so far in all the Japanese restaurants that I tried. I love the combination of the crab sticks and mayonnaise; it's heaven in every bite (LOL) with cucumber, crab meat, mango, and rice.

The restaurant has a warm and soft ambiance as their staff and the taste of their food is really good. A bit expensive but I think it's worth the quality of food and service that you will get.
