Meg's Field Trip without Mommy

Meg and I are always together when going out. When the school told us that they would be having a field trip but parents are not allowed, I was a bit worried at first. You know, with my OC-ness and my being an OA Mom, I'm not sure if she can handle it already. But because the little girl was very eager to join her classmates, I have no choice but to allow her.

I prepared sandwiches and cookies for her baon and pork adobo for lunch. I can feel she's starting to get annoyed with my non-stop reminders already but what can I do? I'm one paranoid Mom! hehe... Anyway they went to Greenbelt to watch the Repertory Philippines' "Alice in Wonderland", Philippine Air Force Museum, and Dolljoy Gallery Museum.

The things they need to bring:
  • jacket
  • face towel/towel
  • tissue
  • plastic bag
  • extra uniform
  • cap/umbrella
The super stage mom strikes again!
O di'ba too excited, naka-jacket na agad lol... Meg said she super enjoyed the trip. Ang tipid magkwento e, sabi lang nag-enjoy siya. No details. hehe...

I feel like I'm starting to be a carefree Mom, choz! You Mommies, do you worry too much?

WITH its iconic cheerful colors and fun prints, every pair of Havaianas flip-flop is sure to transport a person into a happy state.

So when Tropical Retail Company, Inc.- All Flip-Flops, retailer of the well-loved quality footwear, Havaianas, in the Philippine  donated 5,000 flip-flops to Operation Blessing Foundation Philippines, Inc. for the victims of super typhoon Yolanda, everybody was naturally ecstatic.

The Havaianas flip-flops, ranging from baby to adult sizes, was delivered by Chinnie Alpay, Executive Assistant and Administrative Coordinator and Candice See, Recruitment officer, at the Operation Blessing headquarters in Pasig City. The donation was received by Peter Kairuz, President and Chief Executive Officer of CBN Asia and Operation Blessing and Dr. Kim Pascual, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Operation Blessing.

“We are extremely grateful for this huge donation of Havaianas. This is a company with a really big heart. We assure you that these beautiful Havaianas flip-flops would bring smiles to the faces of the Yolanda survivors,” Peter said.

Chinnie said that it was only a couple of days ago when their Managing Director Geronimo Begre, informed them of the company’s intent to help the Yolanda victims through Operation Blessing and everyone in the company immediately went into action, completing the 5,000 flip-flops for donation in a matter of 3 days.

“We are blessed that we could be of help. Mr. Begre is so happy that all the employees worked together to make this happen. Nagkapit-bisig po talaga kami para dito. ,” Chinnie said.

She, likewise, informed the Operation Blessing team that this is the first major humanitarian donation of their company but they will explore more ways to partner with Operation Blessing Philippines in order to help more people.

Look Good and Feel Good about Yourself

I admit I don't feel good about myself sometimes. Err maybe all the time? You know, I'm not that pretty, I am fair-skinned, and I am FAT. Yes I am not this big before but due to certain circumstances a.k.a katakawan and no discipline, I gained so much weight without realizing it. I know it's not defensible and I need to do something about it but since it will take more time to lose so much of this fats, I just need to focus on prettifying myself. But how?

Dress appropriately and nicely

I love wearing dresses and overlapping tops (because I'm fat? lol) plus cover ups. With my size, I usually buy from CLN and Terranova. Their clothes fit me well plus they are stylish. I also saw a very chic cover up from Zalora. Look at the model from Zalora, so me!
Check it out! http://www.zalora.com.ph/KATH0023C-Dolman-Cover-Up-103451.html
You can also pair this with a very comfy wedge. Super beautiful!
This wedge is super affordable, too. http://static04-ph.zalora.com/p/ezra-9656-327911-1-zoom.jpg
Accessorize

I'm not much of an accessory person. I just wear a simple watch but when I started attending events as a blogger, I see the need to be trendy to look good. Maybe a collar necklace and a simple bangle will add to a very sleek look. I also love big bags (tote) that would fit everything in.
You can pair it with this classy necklace http://www.zalora.com.ph/Josue-Necklace-121286.html
Apply a simple Makeup

I don't know how to apply a good one but I can say I'm slowly learning how to do it. Minus the eye part and contouring ha. I just blend my moisturizer, BB cream, and foundation then I apply a light lipstick. But choosing the right makeup for you might be confusing, I mean for me also. What I do is, I read reviews and recommended products from beauty experts.

Take Care of your Face

Different products can help you take care of your face. You should have a daily routine for it. I'm so happy there are a lot of beauty products at Zalora that you can choose from. Makeup, hair care, different tools and accessories for applying makeup, and also products for skincare. Perfect! You don't need to go around the mall, you just have to browse and click, so easy! It is a good site, there are so many great products and some are even on sale. It's not just for fashionable women; even Moms like me who don't have the time for looking good can find many things at Zalora.

My Blogapalooza Experience

Hey dearies! How are you? I mentioned I will be attending the Blogapalooza event last weekend and so I did! I was kinda' late for the event and arrived there with people in queue at the different booths. I saw my Mommy blogger friends when I was in the registration table. Denise of Bebengisms, Kim of Mom on Duty, Serene of Nurse's Diary, and I met a fashionista Mom (who happens to be a friend of Serene) of Mamanee's Nest.
Vince Golangco of When in Manila with Philip (Lifestyle Guy)
My initial impression was that I was like in a bazaar! Hehe a good bazaar though since bloggers were busy registering, exchanging cards, playing games and raffle in every booth. I decided I'll start at the number 1 booth and I eagerly asked each booth questions regarding their product/company or services they offer. Feeler lang! Hehe...

Anyway, sharing with you some of the pictures of the different booths. I didn't take as many photos as I wanted since I am literally having a hard time carrying my bag and all the eco bags given by the different booths. Serene helped me na nga to arranged it, she was just so poised. Bongga! Hehe... Anyway I had fun!

The Mind Museum. I had fun in their booth since you need to answer something to win a prize and I won!
Bounty Fresh
 NYTheraspine
 Chef's Noodles
 Figaro
 Plato Wraps
 BYS
The lunch served is also yummy.
 Sarap neto!
Finally the only booth that I know will make Meg (my daughter) will scream with delight.

Richprime Global Inc. They are the leading distributor of branded children's products in the Philippines.

There were also different speakers who talked during the event. I love Ms. Ana Santos, she's so straightforward. Well that's it! I'm glad I became part of this event - totally an experience.

Press Release: Celebrity Families to be Awarded at the Baby & Family Expo 2013

The biggest family event of the year, Baby & Family Expo Philippines 2013, happening on December 06-08, 2013 at SMX Convention Center Manila, Mall of Asia Complex, will be recognizing celebrity families, parents and kids who have been a great inspiration and role model to Filipino families in the first ever Golden Family Awards. The awarding ceremony is scheduled on Saturday, December 7, 2013, 6pm.
The Golden Family of the Year will be awarded to celebrity parents Judy Ann Santos and Ryan Agoncillo and to daughter Johanna “Yohan Lois" and son Juan Luis "Lucho." Their on-screen love team developed to an off-camera relationship. Four years after, wedding bells were finally heard. Despite rumors, their relationship stayed strong. Aside from their successful showbiz career, Judy Ann and Ryan still managed to be hands-on parents. When it comes to enforcing discipline to their kids, they prefer to handle it on a case-to-case basis instead of imposing cardinal rules. Both parents are open to possibilities of their kids entering showbiz as Yohan and Lucho are showing signs already.

Celebrity couple Regine Tolentino and Lander Vera-Perez will be awarded as the Golden Couple of the Year as their relationship is one of the perfect examples of a relationship that withstood trials and emerged stronger after the storm. Actress and dancing diva felt love at first sight for his on-screen partner Lander Vera-Perez, who was a heartthrob then. But the on-screen love team became a real life relationship. They are blessed with two daughters Azucena Reigne and Alessandra Reigen.

Queen of all media Kris Aquino’s son James “Bimby” Aquino Yap and Little Miss Philippines 2012 Ryzza Mae Dizon will be crowned as this year’s Golden Kids. Following the footsteps of his mom, Bimby is now very active in showbiz print and television commercials plus with an upcoming movie together with award-winning child actress Ryzza, who have been on demand ever since she won in the noon-time show pageant for her unique wit. Currently, she hosts her own show.

Celebrity parents will also be present during the expo to give inspirational talks. Host, author, columnist & Mercato founder RJ Ledesma will share tips on Daddy 101. Azkals coach Michael Weiss will talk about ‘Coaching the Azkals and Coaching Your Kids’. On The Money host and president of The Master's Academy Edric Mendoza will talk about Homeschooling. Bb. Pilipinas- Universe title holder and actress Nina Ricci Alagao-Flores and dancing diva Regine Tolentino will give a talk on Parenting 101. Former vocalist of Moonstar88 Acel van Ommen and Starstruck avenger Jade Lopez will give an advocacy talk for Right Start.

Former beauty queen turned actress Maria Isabel Lopez and MTRCB board member and actress  Gladys Reyes-Sommereux will also be there to sell their pre-loved clothes/items and other stuff to the expo goers, a portion of which will be donated to the Yolanda victims.

The Golden Family Awards is part of the three-day fun-filled event organized by MediaCom Solutions Inc. and co-presented by Cordlife Philippines, the leading cord blood and tissue banking service provider in the country.

Oh Teacher Don't Say it's Hopeless

The Super Typhoon Yolanda in the eyes of a Child

Hearing and seeing bad news about the aftermath of the super typhoon Yolanda makes it so frustrating and hopeless. I had this conversation with my 8 year old Korean student.

Student (S): Teacher I need to watch a video about the typhoon Yolanda.
Me (M): Ok.
After watching...
S: It's so heartbreaking.
M: I know. Everyone lost a loved one. Kids and older people died. All the houses were devastated. The help is not coming fast. People are very hungry. It's so hopeless.
S: Oh Teacher don't say it's hopeless. People in every part of the world are trying to help. It's hard at first but slowly it will come in place.
She cut a whole cracker (one is bigger than the other) and said.
S: Look teacher, this is the broken areas affected by the typhoon (showing me a smaller part of the cracker) and this (the bigger part) are the different countries sending help and the people working so hard to send help. See, there is HOPE

Perplexed, I realized that kids somehow understand the depth of the situation. Yes it is easier said than done and kids don't know the entire scenario but as adults, do we understand it? Hope is very dark now; everyone is having a hard time seeing it. I'm looking for inspiring stories over the net but it seemed impossible. Until I read this.

Hopeless situations allow us to see God more clearly. When everything goes well in our life, we don't see God. But when we're left with nothing and all is darkness, we suddenly see God very clearly. People helping now is one example that we experience God in this hopeless situation. Hope results from clinging to God despite the hopelessness of our situation.

I Peter 1:6-7 “So be truly glad. There is wonderful joy ahead, even though you have to endure many trials for a little while. These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold—though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world.”

My student also asked me, "Are the Filipinos united?" I answered, "Sadly, some are not united." Every Filipino has a different opinion from another and they end up fighting - insulting and bashing each other. Are we not for a common goal - To help the survivors of typhoon? Why do we have to be divided as a country? Isn't it ironic that different parts of the world are united to help and yet we are the ones who are separated because of our views? Why do you find contentment in shaming the government when we are all part of this? Are you not shaming yourself also by lambasting your fellow countrymen?

I know we are all frustrated, we feel that all the efforts are not enough. We all feel for the people affected by the typhoon. We take all things negatively and covering all the positive things. This is a normal thing. But going beyond that and resort to fighting seemed unacceptable. We're bringing HOPE to our fellow countrymen but what do we do?

Let's just HELP each other. Our country is not perfect, we see bad news every day but don't let it control or consume you. They need our help. In this time of despair, we should cling to each other for help.
